Measuring and Innovation Network MeKoTech

Requirements with respect to quality management in food chains have increased over the past few years. On the one hand consumers are far more concerned with food safety issues and on the other hand, organisations have to deal with price pressure and concentration tendencies in the agri-food sector. In order to maintain their competitive advantage, organisations seek innovative solutions to avoid mistakes, to secure quality and to reduce their costs.

This is the background of the formation of the innovation and technology network MeKoTech. The project adresses to research institutes und companies form alliances with a focus on innovative technologies in the field of on- and offline measuring in food chains. Furthermore, a second focus is put on the combination of measurement technology and information- and communication-systems. It is aimed to improve corporate and particularly chain spanning quality management and quality communication in agricultural and food production chains.

MeKoTech partners are going to exploit this potential. Research activities and development projects are jointly accomplished with full support of MekoTech’s network management.

The establishment of the network is funded by Zentrales Innovationsprogramm Mittelstand (ZIM) (module: network projects) of the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology.

Organisations that are interested in participating in the MeKoTech network are kindly asked to contact the GiGS network management.
