More than 20 cross-border innovation projects were carried out from 2018 to 2022 under the umbrella of the second phase of the INTERREG project FOOD2020. In addition, there were numerous workshops and seminars as well as seven thematic think tanks. GIQS has now produced a brochure in German <\/a>and Dutch <\/a>on the results of the cooperation project, presenting the wide range of funded initiatives on more than 100 pages.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A total of 156 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) from the German-Dutch border region received financial support from the FOOD2020 project within four years. The companies were supported in developing concrete solutions that contribute to overcoming the challenges that are essential for today’s food industry. The project activities have created a total of 52 new jobs and many new collaborations in the Dutch-German border area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

21 innovation projects are listed in the 104-page brochure, which gives a good impression of the great diversity of project activities from the agrofood sector. For example, the innovation project AllerGoFree<\/em> produced allergy-free fruit by treating it with carbon dioxide; the Foie Royale<\/em> project developed an ethical alternative to foie gras; the Animus<\/em> app helps farmers maximise yields and reduce production costs; and Fladderfarm Mobiel<\/em> developed innovative off-grid mobile poultry houses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
