A German-Dutch delegation from the INTERREG project Food Pro\u00b7tec\u00b7ts<\/a> visited a pig fattening farm in Horst, Netherlands, at the beginning of July, where a test installation to improve the climate in the stables was recently installed as a project activity. The converted sea container will soon be connected and can then clean stable air with the help of cold plasma technology and remove unwanted odours.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The third technology cluster (TIC3) recently brought together representatives of the project partners Blue Engineering, the Landwirtschaftskammer Nordrhein-Westfalen, Inno+ and the lead partner GIQS e.V. on the Greenport Venlo campus to inform each other about the latest activities and results within the cluster. The extension of the project activities to the poultry sector was also discussed and planned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the subsequent on-site inspection of the test installation at a plant in nearby Horst, project manager Dr. Oliver Breuer (GIQS e.V.) was very pleased with the latest developments. “The development phase for the application of cold plasma technology was successfully completed and the specially manufactured test installation was set up at a regular pig fattening farm.” The test container, which was developed and assembled in cooperation with the University of Eindhoven, will be connected to the climate system of the barn in the coming days. The barn air is then conducted through plasma cells, which reduce odours, fine dust and pathogens in the barn air and thus contribute to an improvement of the barn climate for humans and animals. “Our expectations are high that with this technology we can contribute to a significant improvement of the stable climate,” said Breuer during the on-site visit.<\/p>\n\n\n\nngg_shortcode_0_placeholder\n\n\n\n

Food Pro\u00b7tec\u00b7ts is implemented under the INTERREG V A programme Deutschland-Nederland<\/a> and co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs, MWIDE NRW and the provinces of Gelderland, Limburg and Noord-Brabant.
